As always, thanks for the comment, Vlad, and Fraga’s work is excellent: highly suggest it. I am no expert on Berkeley, and I appreciate your elaborations on his thinking here. From my novice understanding, I always felt Berkeley was similar to Anselm, who I think is misunderstood (and hope to post something on soon), and based on what you said, that association might be correct. I also appreciate your point that Berkeley cannot be understood outside an understanding of Locke: I’ll keep that in mind when I get a chance to return to Berkeley.
