I’m so glad you liked the crater description, which has helped me situated key differences between the Continental and Analytical schools. I can never put experiences into words (they are always “lacking,” for “maps are not territories”), and so a philosophical traditional that suggests the real can be said ends up treating experiences as if they don’t exist. There are many things to which I can only “point,” but that doesn’t mean these things are less real than things I can “hold and pick up.” It can seem that way, and perhaps thinking would be far easier if we could make this assumption, but we must acknowledge that this is a temptation.
